Back in January, Claire and Luke both required haircuts.

It was long past the time for Luke's hair to be cut. It was starting to get so long and combed over, he was channeling a Trump, so I took out the clippers, gave him a go over, and he came out of the battle looking like a gladiator. Like a short, flabby gladiator with a double chin that wobbles when he walks. As soon as I sheered off his smooth locks, I regretted it. Suddenly his babyness was gone. He looked like a different kid. Cody kept calling him Maximus. I was sad. But it was for the better and I got use to it right quick. He is pretty handsome.
Now Claire. Claire's haircut was also one of necessity. When her hair is long, it is the thing that she is constantly messing with, whether she is twisting it into knots or sucking on the ends. Her hair was disgusting and such a beast to comb out every morning. So I decided we had to cut it short. So me and my frugal self took her to a place to get it cut where I had a $5 coupon. Note to self: don't take you daughter to any place that has 'Clips" in the title. Such a bad haircut. Claire has really thick hair, so I asked the lady to cut it in a nice round bob. She instead cuts it it pretty blunt, with the back longer than the sides. I have this horrible problem of letting bad haircuts go without saying anything to the hair-cutter. Shouldn't I have told that lady as soon as she was done that the hair cut was not what I asked for and that it was horrible? But I felt bad, since I was only paying $5 for it.
I didn't say anything and left with my daughter sporting the same do as the Javier Bardem in No Country for Old Men:
And the worst part, I just left it. It's grown out a little bit now, so it looks a little better, but still. I think there is a general parenting rule out there that if you child resembles the appearance of a psychopath in anyway, you should fix that--quick. Don't worry. I'll get around to fixing it one day.

The comparison to Javier was too funny! I died laughing as soon as I saw the picture and had a great image of what Claire's haircut must look like. It isn't THAT bad. But I must say, she is resembling you more and more. Something about that picture just screams "Brooke"!
I really like Luke's haircut. He is a handsome little devil. You did a good job.
That was hilarious! Claire's hair was not that bad, although there was a slight hair resemblance. Luke looked adorable, but I love buzzed baby (boy) hair. I am a little concerned for Sydney, I am so used to buzzing little boy heads, I don't quite know what to do with little girl hair. I am also really cheap, so I am sure she has many bad haircuts in her future.
Brooke- you are crackin' me up! I love claire's frown
I love Luke's haircut, but I know what you mean by the sadness you feel when you chop off your boy's hair and all of a sudden he looks two years older.
Claire's hair...It looks like I'm the only one who's saying it, but Claire's hair is bad. That lady did NOT cut straight. Even so, she's still gorgeous despite the bad cut and silly frown.
luke is absolutely handsome. i love the haircut. claire's may not be perfect but i would have to say it is a big improvement from the before picture ; ). she looks darling.
Oh my gosh, I was on the phone with a friend when I clicked onto your blog, and I'm pretty sure I snorted into the mouthpiece when I saw the comparison to Javier!
And I'm with Carrie. Yeah. The lady did an AWFUL job. The great news is, she is adorable no matter what, so no biggie.
I'm also with Shell. Claire is looking so much more like you these days. I love it!
Oh, and Luke's hair is so cute! There is something sad about that first baby boy haircut. Something about it makes them change from baby to big boy in a split second.
Yeah, Clair's haircut isn't straight, but it looks like she won't get it so tangled anymore. Did Luke cry when you got out the clippers? Corban screams and we have to wrap a blanket around him. But afterwards he looks great, and then we don't even have to mess with his hair at all for awhile- not even combing! (though lots of shampooing especially since he loves to massage his head with his food at dinner time.)
lol.
They both look super cute, though I agree that Claire's is a bit blunt-cut. :D It's crazy how much she looks like you, Brooke (minus the Great Clips haircut and frowny face, of course).
And Maximus is such a perfect nickname for Luke after his haircut, but I think it's a darling haircut. Your haircut on Luke is much better than the . . . ahem . . . "professional" haircut that Claire got! Go Mama Brooke!
