Fun on the Fourth

We went back to Pittsburgh for the fourth of July weekend to attend a wedding of some friends of ours. It was fun to be back there; it is so beautiful there. We haven't been away long enough for it to have that haunted, nostalgic feeling you get when you go back to a place where you use to live. It just felt familiar and friendly. We were able to visit with some friends, attend a community carnival, eat hot dogs, and watch the fireworks. And then we zipped home. We had a good time and we are grateful for good friends.

(I know this post isn't super exciting, but I was so sick of looking at that burnt chocolate picture, I needed to put something else up)

(on a completely random note, in the last picture, I love that the cars are in rainbow order. I just recently found out that Cody a.) didn't know that there was such thing as rainbow order, and that b.) he doesn't know what that order is. I was blind-sighted. You think you know someone. . .)

Cody's not alone. I too do not know the exact rainbow order ;)

Glad you were able to go pack to Pittsburgh and visit with friends. It sounds like a great 4th!

I have such little room left in my brain to hold on to things that seem random...I rely on my kids to inform me of things like rainbow order...BTW Dene totally knew it!

No one ever taught Cody about Roy G. Biv?! Shocking and totally unacceptable!

Monica knows the rainbow order. She even knows the rainbow order of a second rainbow. do you? have you ever seen a double rainbow? the second rainbow color order is reversed. where would you have to be to see a rainbow form a complete circle? monica knows. no two people see the same rainbow exactly the same. do you know why? do you know what causes a rainbow to arch in the sky? If you knew that then you would know why two people don't see the same rainbow exactly the same. now then what are you going to think about the rest of the day? by the way, speaking of rainbows, i just love the name eva rae for a baby girl.

I'm guess Anon is Dad. Just a wild guess. I saw a double rainbow a few weeks ago and noticed that the second rainbow was a mirror image of the first. Tom explained it to me, but I've forgotten, so I guess you'll have to go do your own research. And why is Dad telling you girl names? Too many pregnancies in our family, I guess, hard to remember who is having what. :)

I dont' think the message for the girls name was for me- for three reasons, I am not having a girl, that name is tiffani's, and one of my girls already has eva in her name.

stunning. how could a person as smart as Cody not be familiar with good ol' ROY-G-BIV. regardless, it looks like a fun train ride. Luke is so jealous right now.

I agree with others who have commented: how could you make it through elem art class without meeting Roy G Biv?? weird!!

I am still so sad we missed each other. I am missing you. Watching So You Think You Can Dance tonight I thought about you and how you could really do contemporary. Really. You underestimate yourself. :)

My boys are in love with the little barrel train. They keep saying, "I wanna go in the orange one!"

Hey there,

I didn't know there was a rainbow order either- but Sophie did. She told it to me a couple of weeks ago! I hate that my kids are going to be smarter than me. why do they teach us this stuff if we aren't ever going to remember/use it? (Sophie just asked me that same question too- smart girl for a 6 year old- guess she's already burnt out on school!!)
I totally miss you. Come back and visit. You should hang out here until school starts. I have plenty of room for you and your girlies!!
