Nesting

One of the great things about pregnancy is nesting. It is this burst of energy, this manic desire to get everything clean, organized, and ready for the baby. Last summer at this time I was nesting and I was taking names and kicking butt (in a clean-your-house-de-junk kinda way). This summer, no such luck. But our yard and house are in desperate need of some attention. Not just 'some' attention, but like "hey look at us, we're Speidi and insecure so give us some attention" attention. That is some serious attention.

But alas, I am not nesting. I am not even weeding. I'm barely making my bed everyday. Therein lies my problem. I am in a state of humidity-induced laziness. I blamed the humidity last year for my laziness, too.

I wonder what I will blame my laziness on when I actually have an air conditioner.

I understand completely! Humidity sucks every last bit of energy and motivation from me. Those days when its 90 degrees with 80% humidity, I don't move very much.

You are in PA without an air conditioner? Wow! You deserve some kind of medal. Nesting has been good to me lately, but we'll see about these last nine weeks. But, back to the air conditioning. Don't they have portable ones or something? I feel for you...it was 87 here the other day and I felt like I was going to melt (w/ AC!!!).

Okay, I make my plight seem more desperate than it is- I have window AC units, but I don't think those count as real AC. Because it just doesn't cut it!

You are so darn funny Brooke. Look at us we need some attention. That about cracked me over the fence.

Who cares anyways. Do what you can. There will always be tomorrow or the next week or month.

When its hot out, it is so hard to get motivated to be out there. And your right about the window ac. Not cutting it at all.

i am nesting...can i come clean your house :)? however if i did not have ac there is no way i would be cleaning either nesting or not. how did you do it last summer? i know you have ac units but you are right...that just doesn't cut it- and don't you just have one in your room?

Maybe it's a summer thing. I've been in a lazy, barely making my bed state for a while now too.

Have I mentioned that I can't wait to see you guys IN 4 WEEKS? Yay!!!!

I have an airconditioner and I have a very hard time finding motivation to clean. I think it is just part of the lazy days of summer. We have tile floor and Mike's little feet are so incredibly black from running around barefoot all day. Yah, maybe I should do something about that.

Don't stress. You're not alone.

you don't have an air conditioner?! I thought it was bad enough to only have a swamp cooler, but nothing at all...I'm so sorry! I would deffinatly make that my excuse too.

I can think of a few things to blame your laziness on. I'm an expert at avoiding doing my work. :) Not something I'm really proud of, but I'll own it. My house is always a mess. I could do with a bit of that "nesting" bug.

Cody, I replied to your comment on my blog and it wasn't until I was almost finished with my novel-of-a-comment that I realized I should have written it here. Please read it. And thanks for giving him the heads-up, Brooke!

I feel the same way! I even have an air conditioner. :) My excuse is that I did far too much cleaning during the six months of Pittsburgh winter, and I'm done with it for the next six months while the weather is warmer. BUT...if I didn't have central a/c I'd have far more excuses! I don't know how you do it!

Nesting is the best thing - to have such motivation to clean and dejunk - I threw away so much stuff last summer that I had to sneak it into my neighbors garbage piles b/c ours was too big. Some sort of pregnancy hormone has to cause it, maybe we can isolate it and sell some sort of nesting tonic, that would make millions.

Oh and the speidi reference? I was dying laughing, oh speidi...

Melanie, I knew you would appreciate the Speidi
