Luke James

We welcomed Luke James into our family on Monday, November 23.
He weighed a whopping 9 lbs 2 oz.
He was 21 inches long.

The girls just love him, constantly wanting to hold him, kiss him, and touch him every chance they have.

Luke has been a great little baby so far and is quite the chunk. We just had his one week appointment today and he now weighs 10 lbs 5 oz. The kid knows how to eat.

Last night, in the middle of the night, as I changed Luke's diaper in my bed, I thought I was doing a good job holding the diaper over him so that he wouldn't squirt pee everywhere. It turns out I was merely pointing it up. The kid amazingly managed to send a line of pee straight up and over his shoulder, landing across the bed, square on Cody's face. The kid has good aim.

Congratulations Brooke, Cody, Claire, and Morgan!!! Luke is adorable and, yes, CHUNKY! I love chunky babies. :D Best of luck with the diaper changing. I've been squirted waaaaay more times than I'd like to remember. :D In fact, when we moved out of our condo and put the changing table in the moving truck, we realized how bad it truly was . . . the walls were streaked yellow behind the changing table! Ha ha haaaa! Little sprinklers is what these boys are. :D So happy for you guys!

wow. welcome to the world of boys :) LOL. I can't believe he was so big. My Luke was exactly the same size, weight and height. how funny. He's darling. I thought when I was looking at the pictures that he looked too cute to be a newborn. I guess that extra chub really makes for a cute little round face. Your girls look so happy. I hope we get to see you soon. (not christmas, i'm assuming) but spring maybe? congratulations!!!

Wow! Luke is a great eater if he's already put on a pound in a week! Great job little bud!

He looks absolutely beautiful, Brooke. Congratulations Nelsons!!!!

Do you realize that when we finally get to hold each other's babies, they'll be 6 months old? That's so sad to me.

Yeah...boys and their wild pee...have fun with that!

Oh my goodness Luke is just adorable! Congrats on the little chunk. So dang cute! A good tip for keeping the pee at bay or in this case off Cody is- a small towel over the little guy. I've seen people make & sell cones made out of fabric that work too. Good luck with the little one. :) Sorry Cody but that little guy has got good aim.

Congratulations! It's great that you have two little "mothers" to help you with the baby. Over 9 lbs? O-U-C-H!. He's a cutie and I agree with everybody else: boys are more "fun" than girls in the diaper department.

Congrats! I wondered when we were going to hear about this. I hope you are doing well and surviving having three kids. you are a rockstar!

Congratulations! Luke looks like a cute little man, and apparently has a great aim too.

I've been dying to come hold him, but we've had some crazy gomboo lurking in our home so I've resisted and kept my distance, but I'll be calling soon!!

Congratulations! He's such a handsome little guy! I loved watching Mike change Cameron's diaper when he was tiny, because he would inevitably get sprayed.

He's a cutie! Now that you've experienced it, did you think everyone was exaggerating just a little when they talked about newborn trajectory? I sure underestimated it. :) I hope you're feeling good and recovering well. Have you noticed a difference recovering from a 9 pounder vs. a normal sized baby?

Congratulations! He is so dang cute! I love them chunky. Tell Cody it could have been worse...same situation, but Allie...poop...and my face....AAAAAAH! Have fun with three!

Yay pictures!! He is adorable. I'm loving that you get to experience being a mother of a boy, that pee just goes everywhere ALL the time. It may have been the first but it won't be the last. What a happy little family.

Oh he's darling! Loved the last story! It's nice to have a man have a story like that...usually it's just the mommies that get to experience all that fun stuff. ;)

Congratulations, Brooke! I've been checking your blog constantly over the last couple of weeks, waiting for this update. Yea!

I love the pictures of the girls holding Luke - you can tell that they're excited.

Congratulations Brooke! Glad you are feeling well enough to be posting pictures on your blog. He is a cute baby. I bet your girls will be such good helpers and they will love having a baby brother.

Congrats to you guys!! He is a cute little chunk:) I know what it's like to get pee'd on by those little squirts atleast pee is sterile. Good luck with everything!

Congratulations! He's adorable. Nice job...9 lbs. 2 oz. He's still so tiny! Looks like he's getting a lot of love. And, sounds like your adjusting to having a baby boy around. Luke will love that story when he grows up. Patrick's favorite story about his life is about the time he peed on the nurse at the hospital during his first bath. Yeah, priceless. So, keep that one in the back of your mind for a future bedtime story.

Congratulations! What a beautiful addition to your already gorgeous family. Yeah, and you gotta watch for those fire hydrants.

Congratulations!

My baby boy usually squirts pee on his own face (even on the doctor's office scale that he "christianed."

Congrats-he's so cute. Ahh if we could only have like 20 of those sweet ones. But reality totally limits us on numbers..ha ha. Anyway he is adorable-no surprise there!!
