I've always heard that Steeler fans are die hard. How fun for you to be in the city right now to experience it. Hope you're able to sleep though ;)
That's awesome! I totally miss the whole Steelers fan environment. Football isn't celebrated here like it is in the Burgh, of course the Cards didn't win so I'm sure that has to do something with it. But I'm pretty sure during the past week, I've seen a ton of people wearing Steelers attire and no one in Card stuff. We of course sported our black and gold. Go Steelers!
HAHAHAHA! I almost went outside and did the exact same thing last night. There were some people across the street that were running around in a drunken haze. We had people driving by until midnight honking their horn. I wasn't amuzed at that point.
I heard that all the public schools started 2 hours late this morning in Steeler land. That's a nice gesture.
Same atmosphere on our street! How cool is it that we got to experience 2 of these!! Gotta love dem Stillers!
I've always wondered what neighborhoods sounded like when their team won. Now I know. I'm glad your kids are deep sleeper too. happy belated birthday! Claire did an excellent job picking out presents for you.
i really miss pittsburgh at times and this is one of those times. How fun!! I was pretty excited here in CA but it just isnt the same. that is so fun!
We heard some major fireworks and car horns by our house too! So much fun!!
GO STEELERS!!!! We watched the game here, and celebrated in our own little, quiet, rural way. We reminisced about the last time the Steelers won the Super Bowl and the Steeler Mania that followed in the neighborhood all night long. Like Rachel, there are some times when I really miss the 'Burgh *sniff*.
That made me laugh. Jason came in and commented on "drunk" "brookline" you know. :) But I have to say, it was the same in my neighborhood the first year we lived here and they won. I imagined you crying. :)
"partly because loud noises make me tear up."
I am sooooo the same way. I remember when we first moved to Chile and we were still living in a hotel in downtown Santiago while they got our house ready for us to move into. A couple of nights after we arrived, Chile beat Argentina in a soccer match. The streets outside our hotel room went wild. It was insane. People stopped in the streets, backed up traffic, everyone got out of their cars to celebrate with each other, and I started to blubber for the excitement of it all!
I love that video. It's so cool.
