The Sound of Silence

Silence is never a good thing in our house, because it usually means messes, destruction, and/or dismemberment. A couple of nights ago, I realized Claire had been awfully silent in the kitchen for a long time. This is what I found upon entering:
She was trying to make herself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, wasting the extremely valuable homemade jam. It was all over her, the counter, the chair she was standing on, and even inside the bread bag. It was hard to be mad at her, because she was so proud of herself for being grown up. So yet another sticky situation I had to clean up.
In other Claire news, today she was sitting on the potty, going poops, when I asked her if she was all done. She responds, "No, I am just frustrated." It's a new word she has been using a lot as of late. But hey, who hasn't been there before?

I agree, there's no way you could be mad after seeing that face! I can't believe she got it inside the bag! She's a talented girl that Claire.

Did she say what she was "frustrated" about? I think it's so cute when little kids pick up big words AND use them correctly!

Oh, you are a patient mommy with that heavenly freezer jam. I am dreading the day that any of my kids get too independent. I think I am too scary for them to experiment with that! :) Maybe not Noah. :)

Brooke, you are a very patient mom. How cute is Claire's face? She is beautiful, even when being mischievous.

Ahh . . . the joys of motherhood! At least next time you need to make a pb&j the j will already be on the bread - so in reality, Claire did you a big favor by eliminating that tedious and bothersome step from your routine:).

It's really cute that she tried to make her own sandwich. I know how precious homemade jam is though, seeming that I didn't make any this year and we are completely out!

Way to go, Claire! Now just learn to do it without the sticky mess. (I'm talking about making the PB&J sandwich, here, not pooping.) :)

Hmmm...frustrated on the toilet. That's a good one! I wonder what she was so frustrated about?

Don't get me wrong- she got in trouble for the jam mess, but I couldn't be mad, because she was so intent on being grown up.
