Filler

Isn't' she lovely? Claire is the queen of dressing up- she changes her clothes about 12 times a day, mostly putting on different dresses or her princess nightgowns. This is her lounging in her princess tent, lavishly feasting on grapes. Do you think she is spoiled?

And now I have a bit of a quandary for those who are interested. Decorating is not one of my strengths. I had been looking for months on what to put on top of our TV armoire in our living room. I didn't want anything to busy, and last week I found these beautiful apothecary jars for a good deal, so I bought them. But what, if anything, do I put in them? Any suggestions?
I have included a per- spective picture so you can get the gist of my decorating color and scheme.
Thanks to all of you have much better decorating sense than me.

Yes Claire is indeed lovely! Can I come lounge in the princess tent too? It sounds like a wonderful day.

As you know, I in no position to give out decorating advice. As you have seen my home, I should be asking too...but...I actually like them empty. I think they are very cool, and they look great on your armoire. But like I said, I could be waaaay off cuz I'm no Martha!

lol! I like your suggestions, Elizabeth- that's right down my decorating alley.

I like Elizabeth's idea, however, knowing you, you might have to be refilling them constantly. Other filler ideas are potpouri, cinnamon sticks, fake apples (green comes to mind), buttons, candles, small versions of those seed balls you used to make, or any other sort of candy.

And yes, Claire is super cute!

Claire is so cute. I can't believe how big she is and how much she looks like you (although I can still see some of cody). I like Elizabeth's idea of candy, colorful candy.

Claire, Claire, Claire. She is beautiful...remember when we came to visit and she and Kate couldn't agree on what princess item to wear so we had to put everything away? :) Here is a decorating suggestion from one who doesn't own a own home here in Minnesota...how much longer until the house is finished???? Arrrggg.....anyway, I think you should try to make fabric cylinders to place inside the vases(adhere the fabric to posterboard or some thick paper with spray adhesive). Then, you can add some color to the room and change out the fabric (or I guess you could use fun scrapbooking paper) for the different seasons, holidays, moods, ect. and it wouldn't cost that much. The trio would look neat with coordinating patterns. Did that make any sense at all?

Where did you get those? And how good was the deal. I love new decorating things!!! Good luck trying to decide how to fill them. You could also do shells in one, bark in another, and moss in the last one. Pottery Barn does that. Love it! And I think Target has all that stuff. You know, the want a be PB. But candy is always a sure win. But down lower so I can reach them!:)

Claire is gorgeous. And I haven't a clue how to decorate anything. :) My mother-in-law is our decorating savior! :) Ooo, but if you wanted to do something really out there...you could put some cool colored pebbles in the bottom, then fill them with water and put a Betta fish in each. That is, if they hold water. Yeah, see, I told you...I'm no decorating guru. :)

Oh, I like your wreath, by the way. We have a fireplace now, and my mother-in-law is totally gung-ho about putting a wreath on it. Now I know what it will look like. :) It's cute!

Did you decide on anything? I have some similar containers...they aren't as cute though. I can't make a 'filler' decision.

I haven't decided on anything yet. thats my typical decorating routine- it takes me forever to decide on anything.

I am leaning towardst the seed and moss balls for the fall, maybe changing it for the christmas seasons to decorative bulb ornaments. Something like that.

For now they remain empty.

Hi Brooke, I could send you some lovely Tri City sand (I am sure you miss it so) Fill one jar, and then we could get someone to send you some beautiful beach sand and I could get Marshall to send you some lovely red Arizona sand. How is that for an idea? Just kidding. What a fun challenge to have though. Inspiration is all around you. Idea #2 You are in PA so you will have colorful fall leaves coming up soon and then add some twigs and found feathers, etc that you could gather with your daughter(who is darling and looks like you when you were little by the way)for a fall display and then change to something for Christmas and then spring and so on. Your home looks just lovely and I love your blog! You are fun to read. Sorry to write a book here. But I love challenges like this. You gotta post what you fill with!(In case you are wondering who this crazy lady is, it's Tami Mathews)

Tami, it is so good to hear from you and such an honor! Thanks for your advice- I was leaning towards something to do with fall-leaves, or moss, or fern leaves. I don't know. If I ever get around to putting something in the jars, I will post it.
