Dabbling

For my birthday, my mom sent me a pretty bird sling purse pattern, as well as all the material to make it. It was a perfect gift- it let me use my creative side, trying and learning something new, and it is really cute and useful.

I have had people stop me at the grocery store and Rite-Aid, to compliment my bag. This may be a common occurrence with you guys, but I am not much of a purse person, and am always carrying around something blah. But not anymore. And it has set my blood bubbling for more bags; I want more! Thanks, mom!

It IS really cute. I have seen some of those type of bags at Old Navy.. so it is very stylish. The pattern/colors though is what I really like.I'm glad I am your first commentor but it is also wierd that you just posted like 10 minutes ago and here I am.
Enjoy your day.

Your bag turned out so cute. I should send you a picture of the diaper bag mom helped me make while I was there. It is the pink version of your fabric. I am also going gaga over purses/bags right now. I stole the scraps from making my diaper bag to make a purse for Samantha. Also, we found an awesome product to help make bags/purses stiff (it wouldn't work for the style of bag you did, but for many others, like my diaper bag, it is awesome). I don't know why I told you that because I can't remember the exact number of it. Pellon 587F, I think. It is fusible fleece, I think. Oh mom, what is it? Now I am feeling dumb and want to just erase what I just wrote. But I am enjoying the ramble. Anyway, my local JoAnn's didn't have it, so maybe I should discover some good quilt stores in my area that carries it.

Super cute Brooke. And I noticed that you have your flowers growing up. I totally didn't pay attention to my fabric and my are upside down. I agree that patterns and fabric from Mom are the best gifts.

I enjoyed the ramble, MOnica! I can't wait to see pics of your bag- I love, love the pink version of this material also. this bag used fusible fleece, but mom sent it with the present, so I don't know if it is the same one you are talking about. Have fun exploring for a new quilt store!

See? Loving bags is really something you can't help. Once you get a good one, you just want more and more!!!! And I am DEAD serious about getting one of yours!!!! Does April 2 mean anything to you? ;)

I am not completely crazy. It is Pellon 987F, Fusible Fleece.

FYI: I found 2 really good quilt shops here in Bountiful. Now I am anxious to see what Salt Lake has.

I really like your bag! Very nice fabric choices. Looks roomy to. You can store all the stuff women carry around with them and thats always a good thing!!

I absolutely love your bag! I hear coveting is a sin so of course I had to make one too. And bags are slightly addictive- I'm definitely a bagoholic!

That is so wonderful that you can make something so fabulous. I am like you in that I am not a purse person-I had mine stolen once and so carry a messengertype wallet around with me. I wish i was more chic sometimes.
